Mount Shasta Called Once Again

This beautiful mountain paradise has a way of beckoning to me whenever I really need some spiritual and physical solace. It was sixteen years ago when I first laid my eyes on this magnificent mountain and the town that sprawls beneath it. Ever since then, I have been magnetically drawn to this place by some invisible force that is beyond my comprehension. All I know is that when I need the energies that this place has to offer, I am drawn here. Twice, I have been stopped here because my vehicle refused to go any further.

 Now is such a time.

It has been seven days and seven nights since our Ford Escort station wagon made its last chugging effort to climb the mountain before it stopped. We made it to within half a mile of the southern exit ramp into Mount Shasta City before the car just stopped. It was overheating and steaming and had absolutely no power or will to continue. Our car surrendered to this mountainous serene place.

Now if only we can surrender!

Cephas and I looked at each other with those all knowing looks that said, "I can't believe this even though I knew somehow that it was going to happen!" We weren't really surprised or in a state of disbelief. Rather, it was a euphoric moment of remembering. Does that make any sense at all? I mean, we both really expected it to happen! On the ride up the mountain, a strange sense of expectancy washed over me. I heard a train sound in the distance which brought back memories of the days we rode the trains from the Dunsmuir station to Chico and Redding. At that moment, I felt that we would ride the trains again. I knew this with a distant yet calm certainty.

 But I didn't know why.

The rainbow gathering in Montana is calling to me

What is a "rainbow gathering"?, you ask.

For those who are unfamiliar, it is the annual gathering of the tribes of the rainbow family of living light. This is a free assembly of individuals who gather in a different national forest in America every summer to consciously share in praying for peace on earth and among people. It is a multi-cultural, non denominational assembly that is open to all folks who wish to share in the spiritual gathering. The annual rainbow gathering is free and has no leaders. Everyone meets as equal in heart and spirit to share the vibration of love and oneness before the great spirit Creator God. On July 4, the assembly of thousands of souls circles in the main meadow in some mountain forest to pray in the universal tone of "OHM". It is a powerful vibration that alters the elements of earth and space. This prayer reaches far and wide. It may last for a few minutes or twenty or more minutes. It just depends upon the moving of spirit. Afterwards, there is much celebration, music, praise, gratitude, love, dance and healing light spread around the gathering and across worlds.

The rainbow gathering is the most powerful assembly that I have ever experienced. I have found nothing else on earth like this in my lifetime. Join us as we share in healing love and light for humanity and the earth. Come and learn to be one with each other, with nature and with God. Just bring your heart and let Spirit show you the way.

Peace be with you.

From Pennsylvania to California, the road is open to me

Our trusty travel van that was gifted to us in 2007 from friends in Dale, Texas.
We love you Emmett and Elizabeth.

I have been a traveler ever since I can recall my memories. I have traveled in thoughts, dreams, visions, and down some long dusty roads in my 57 years on this beautiful planet that God gave me for a temporary home. When I was very small, I would find some tedious task to occupy my physical body while my mind traveled to places either remembered from some time or place long ago or not seen yet. I was always wondering what was around that next bend in the road or where that line of railroad tracks would lead me. My physical traveling began with long walks through forest trails to see what mysteries awaited. I took long walks down some old country roads taking one turn then another just to see where I would end up. It was always exciting no matter which mode of travel I chose. Often, I would sit outside at night gazing at the stars just wondering what was out there and thinking to myself that I would go there someday, beyond our stars to explore. I started riding a bike when I was very young, about five or six years old. This mode of travel took me places faster. By age eleven, I began taking journeys that were miles long instead of blocks, on my trusty old bicycle. My parents had to tell me not to go further than a two hour ride to ensure that I could ride back home before dark. They also advised that I leave a bread crumb trail of sorts so they could find me in case I missed curfew.

These early traveling years expanded my desire to see the world as I reached adulthood. I didn't drive a car until I was thirty-four. There was no stopping me when my fast wheels finally rolled. My first road trip took me from Pennsylvania to Montana, just to see what was on the other side of the country. I found the Lewis and Clark Trail and followed its route through desolate hills and valleys and forests. My explorer heart ignited, I was determined to see every nook and cranny of this great nation. That has been my quest ever since that moment twenty-three years ago. I want to share some of those adventures with you, my family, my friends and future readers of this blog,  Rambling around America. Join me for a fantastic journey into the real things in life.
